Second Beta Weekend Announced!

BWE2_header

EDIT:  According to Twitter, Sylvari and Asura will not be in BWE 2.  Many tears were shed this day.

In the latest blog post by ArenaNet, Chris Whiteside revealed the date of the next Beta Weekend and some exciting new details.

Most importantly, the beta event will start Friday, June 8th, and continue til Sunday, June 10th.
Now what has ArenaNet done in the last month, and what has changed?

Well to start, your old Beta characters will not be deleted, and that is reason alone to celebrate. Its simply deplorable how much I have missed my thief. The explorable mode for Ascalonian Catacombs is also able to be tested for any one with a character level 35 or higher.  Parties will no longer be separated in overflow servers and will be able to play together, chat functionality has been significantly improved, key bindings will work smoothly, and server stability and performance have been refined.  Other details will be released in the "near future"! Near future, when it's ready, soon.  Oh how I have learned to hate these phrases.

All kidding aside, this is very exciting indeed!  I am still hoping that they release some form of patch notes, even if they are abbreviated between Beta Weekends.  Announcing nerfs or buffs to a profession or skill can be tricky and unpopular for companies, but I really hope ArenaNet is transparent in their changes.  If people don't find out now, they will find out in Beta, what's the difference?  At least if you release detailed information, people can plan (and QQ) ahead of time.

  1. I will be very curious to see how they have fixed the overflow servers. I plan to play this game with my wife and sometimes my son. We need to stay grouped together and not spread across other servers. Hopefully they got it fixed.

    1. I really hope so too, last BWE it was extremely hard to play with friends/family outside of WvW and structured PvP.
