Community Highlights: MMO Reviews

In case you missed it, there was a very interesting interview with Eric Flannum, Lead Game Designer, released over at MMO Reviews.

Most importantly the existence of a Dark Age of Camelot, Darkness Falls-style dungeon has been  confirmed and explained, albeit briefly.   Depending on the implementation, this dungeon could be a huge success in the PvP community.
One of the coolest things that we’ve added to WvW recently is a persistent mini-dungeon that can be accessed through the three keeps in the center map. This area is designed with multiplayer PvP in mind and players can do things like activate the traps in the mini-dungeon to defeat enemy players. Of course, at the end of the area there’s a chest full of rewards.
Can you imagine when each of the 3 keeps in Eternal Battlegrounds are owned by each realm?  Massive combat breaking out in a trap-filled room while your party fights to claim the treasure at the end of the hallway.  This feature will really add yet another layer of complexity in WvW, and I am really looking forward to seeing this in-game.

A very unexpected turn during the interview led to the reveal of WvW tournaments. We, as far as I know, had no information about the how they work or even the existence of WvW tournaments before this article was released.

We are still talking about whether or not we want to support any type of WvW tournaments after we launch. If player interest is high, then I think it’s definitely something we’d consider.
Everything as was pretty standard and consistent with existing information.  Overall, it was a great interview that led to two excellent reveals that I look forward to hearing more about.
